1. Our identification process begins with Renzulli's Talent Pool Identification Plan. With the Talent Pool approach, the intent is to be inclusive, to "cast a wide net." Every child in grades K-8 will be assessed, even if parents or teachers do not nominate a student.
2. Data is collected on every candidate in that pool. Data includes teacher feedback from previous year teacher, teacher feedback from current year teacher, standardized test scores (NJ-SLA if available, and AimsWeb spring and fall assessments), grade point average, DRA level and/or work samples, COGATs (administered in the spring). This info is collected by Ms. Meyer.
3. The data for each candidate is reviewed by administration. There is no standard "cutoff number," as it fluctuates based on the instructional levels offered in the general ed WIN teacher and other WIN teachers available during the WIN period. Based on this data, determinations are made as to which WIN teacher would make the best match with a student's needs.
4. Parents of all students and all teachers will be notified of their child's WIN placement.
5. All WIN teachers will begin WIN-time by mid-November, if they haven't already begun.
