One of my jobs at BHS is Curriculum Coordinator, K-8. In this role, I attend monthly county curriculum meetings and distribute this information to administration. Other duties include evaluating the effectiveness & consistency of our school's curricula through data, informal observation, and teacher meetings, creating reports as needed, monitoring our school's implementation of RTI/MTSS, ensuring consistency in practices across grade levels, providing support to teachers when requested, developing curriculum and consistency throughout PEP, AAE, and general ed curriculum K-8, revising and providing curriculum materials as needed, analyzing AimsWeb & state testing data, monitoring SGPs, staying informed as to the academic progress of all students.
This school year, I'm delighted to be working with Dr. Christine McCoid, Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Point Pleasant schools, to bring her knowledge and expertise to curriculum topics at Bay Head School.
Our instructional framework aims to provide personalized learning experiences for every student based on what each student needs. Every grade level has one period a day built into the schedule in both LA and Math that promotes a prescription for growth and success. WIN” (which stands for “What I Need”) is a time when teachers will be personalizing instruction to further meet the unique needs of each learner in every classroom. It is a period of reinforcement, support, and/or enrichment. WIN time provides students with small group instruction and targets specific skill area(s) that are required to become proficient in grade level standards and allow for maximum growth.
There are over 15 WIN teachers in our school this year, including our Principal, Mr. Camardo! All hands on deck!
