Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!
PEP (Pupil Enrichment Program) in the STEAM Lab, formerly the library: It's wonderful to see students back in the STEAM Lab after a sun filled summer! We will start off the year reviewing expectations and what all the acronyms stand for, along with the Engineering Design Process. We will explore some of the activities and experiments planned for the year like becoming drone-certified, planting Zombie seeds, sewing, and Finch robots- just to name a few! And, of course, in October, we will make our traditional Halloween slime. PEP meets once a week for grades K-8.
9/20/22: Our 8th graders are UAS (unmanned aircraft systems) certified! Way to go!
AAE (Advanced Academics & Enrichment):
AAE will begin for both Language Arts and Math (grades 1-5) during the week of 10/31. AAE-LA meets twice per week, and AAE-Math meets once per week. If you'd like to meet for a conference related to AAE, please email me (firstname.lastname@example.org). Conference times are Monday, 11/21 2:15-4:00 and 11/22 12:30-2:30. Please click on the Conferences 2022 tab for available timeslots. Alternate times can be arranged if needed.
CogATs: Cognitive Abilities Tests (achievement tests in quantitative, verbal, and non-verbal batteries) will be given in spring of 2023.
AimsWeb: AimsWeb assessments for grades K-8 are given three times a year in Early Literacy/Reading and Early Numeracy/Math: fall, winter, and spring. Fall assessments were given in September, and the data collected was shared with classroom teachers as just one measurement tool to help all students receive personalized instruction. .
